Shepherd's House Ministries in conjunction with several local service agencies and the city of Bend is excited to announce the official opening of The Lighthouse Navigation Center, a comprehensive resource to better assist those stuck in the dilemma of homelessness. To commemorate this moment, there will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony that will take place on Tuesday, July 12th at 1pm. The Lighthouse on 2nd street, in conjunction with the current overnight shelter, offers day services to those seeking a path out of homelessness. Services at The Lighthouse include case management, addiction recovery classes, one-on-one counseling, medical assistance, and job training & assistance. This new center will allow Shepherd's House to touch more individuals stuck in the dilemma of homelessness with a comprehensive approach, allowing them to find a healthy path towards stability, recovery, and hope. Three City Council seats and the position of Mayor will be placed on the ballot for the November 2022 election. Bend residents interested in being elected in November to serve on the City Council can file now through August 30, 2022. Information about filing, including forms, can be found here. Candidates must reside within the city limits of Bend for at least one year prior to taking office and be a registered voter. The Bend City Council is comprised of six Council members and an elected Mayor. Councilors are elected to four-year terms. This time, however, one of the Council positions is for the remaining two years of a vacated seat. (Council Position 4 was formerly Rita Schenkelberg's seat which is now filled by Stephen Seghal as an appointee through the end of this year.) Other terms that expire at the end of this year are Gena Goodman-Campbell (Council Position 5) and Barb Campbell (Position 6).
