An overload of trash and vandalism has persuaded the Washington State Department of Transportation to close five Interstate 5 rest areas in the northern part of the state, beginning Friday.
Annual maintenance work will close both the northbound and southbound Interstate 5 Gee Creek rest areas north of Vancouver between 6 a.m. Oct. 18 and 5 p.m. Oct. 22, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.
