close to his vest. it s not even clear that s the strategy we re about to see unfold, as we start seeing members come to the floor there. but our reporting is that that s one of the things that mccarthy s team is considering. again, andrea, they have put out five key deputies, close allies of kevin mccarthy to negotiate with members of the freedom caucus. the thing to remember about those negotiations is, it s not like if you tip one member of the 20 person coalition that all of the rest will follow suit. the better way to think about this is that these are 19 and 20 individual members, all of whom have individual concerns. we will see the way that those members ultimately end up voting and what we end up seeing as they start gaveling in on this second day of speaker-palooza, we can call it. thanks so much, ali. joining us vaughan hillyard,

[ cheers and applause ] that was emotional. there you can hear it. speaker pelosi actually just at the end of the actual gaveling of the vote telling a aide it was emotional, and it was for so many. tonight marks the historic final passage of something we ve covered, the respect for marriage act. equality and protections for same sex marriages in federal law. the only last step is going to president biden for his expected signature. now, the fact that this law would even be necessary in 2022 is a reminder of many, many gaps
we do expect their gaveling in as we speak and we do expect to see them at some point in the next many hours to move forward with this democrat s climate and tax and health care bill. we ll see them gavel in and then there will be a vote on a nomination, to get all of the senators here. behind the scenes, because democrats are using this very specific budget process that required all 50 of the democratic senators support but has to go through the senate parliamentarian to make sure it meets the rules and could pass muster to be included in this bill. so the parliamentarian is continuing to rule on this as we speak. she s making her way through yowl of these provisions. just earlier today, we learned that the bulk of what they wanted with medicare being able to negotiate drug prices for the first time is remaining in the bill. the parliamentarian did strike a smaller provision on caps for
worry about the investigation. just put out a statement, and i and the republican congressmen will take care of it. right. it s like, this is this is a dead-on, no-brain violation of this statute. now, the federal prosecutors would say they think it s, you know, not a biggie, but it s a felony with three years. you can get prison for three years. we ll see if the justice department ever take any steps. coming up, we re awaiting the actual gaveling of the fifth public hearing from the january 6th committee this month. we re going to talk to some key figures from the watergate era about what we could learn today, john dean, bob woodward, carl bernstein all join us next. what do you think healthier looks like?
