Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday directed officials to initiate measures to set up a special court to try the killings of Gauri Lankesh and MM Kalburgi for speedy disposal of the matters.
An accused in the Gauri Lankesh murder had a notebook with names of nearly 250 people allegedly at various stages of being inducted into an organised crime syndicate. Shivaji Rao Jadhav’s name was among them.
It is now six years since the assassination of journalist-activist Gauri Lankesh who was gunned down outside her home in Bengaluru, but the trial in her case is far from concluding even though the chargesheet in the case was filed in 2018.
