Get your shopping lists read, Bunnings Plainland is expected to open this week.
Just like the Lockyer community is counting down to open day, so too are the staff at Bunning’s newest store at Plainland.
Leading the team is 22-year-old Simon Funk, who later this week, will open the store to the public for the first time.
In an exclusive chat with the Gatton Star, Mr Funk told of his excitement to welcome the first customers through the door, as well as leading 100 local staff on their new career.
It’s Mr Funk’s first time opening a Bunnings Warehouse as a complex manager and he said the hype around Plainland’s store was “overwhelming”.

Subscriber only Just days before quarantine workers are due to be released into the fields, the agricultural department says it consulted with local regional council, agencies and organisations prior to overseas workers starting their coronavirus quarantining at Grantham. When 160 overseas workers, predominantly from the Solomon Islands, arrived in Grantham on June 7, the Grantham community was confused and frustrated with the lack of consultation. But the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries says it conducted consultation with the relevant parties prior to the labour hire workers arriving at the Grantham Farmworkers Lodge. It s important to note the site poses no risk to the community, however immediate neighbours of a quarantine site are advised that incoming workers will be quarantining there, a department spokesperson said.

Four cows have been injured after a cattle truck lost some of its stock.
Police were notified about a truck that lost its load in Laidley about 1.50pm on Wednesday.
A Queensland Police spokeswoman said officers were assisting with traffic control and livestock management on Rosewood-Laidley road at Laidley.
“Unfortunately, a few of the cows have been injured … some of them may need to be euthanized.”
Police are on scene.

Police are investigating after a car collided with a child riding a bike in Rosewood on Thursday.
Paramedics and police were alerted to the incident at 8am on John Street in Rosewood.
A Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman said it was a “low speed incident”.
“A male patient, reported to be a pre-teen, suffered a laceration to the lip,” the spokeswoman said.
The Gatton Star understands the child was the bike rider.
The child was transported to Ipswich Hospital in a stable condition.
A police spokesperson said the driver of the car allegedly hit the bike, and investigations were continuing.
