mourabitoun, a jihadi grouped aligned with al qaeda, based in mali. this hasn t been authenticated. al mourabitoun is a one-eyed terrorist who launched the siege of a gas facility in southern algeria in 2013. been responsible for a lot of terrorism in mali, the wider region. also responsible for an attack in bamako in march when several gunmen went after a restaurant. it could well be his group. he was targeted by a u.s. strike in libya in june. the group s leader said he had not been killed in that strike. there was some hope he was dead.

neighboring countries. they have been concerned about this spillover of the chaos in libya, the thriving extremist groups there, and it s not the first time we are seeing this spillover effect. we saw it in 2013 in january of that year the attack on the gas facility in algeria, close to the libyan border in the south. it was attacked by militants who had set up camp in libya. they did their training there, used libya as a logistics base including some tunisian fighters at that point. isa, for the past few years we have been reporting extensively on the threat from libya. jihadist groups have set up camp in that country really taking advantage of the security vacuum the political instability in the country, and we ve seen this since 2012 really where a lot of militants would go to libya. whether from tunisia or other north african countries or other parts of the world, trained there and head to syria after

strength and power. i don t think he has made a final decision about what he is going to do. he has continued to take account of the credibility to his actions. he continues to have troops lining the border of eastern ukraine and i believe he is ready to pounce if he sees the opportunity to do so. that sort of seems like what he is doing right now. russian troops certainly aren t retreating from crimea. they are overtaking some gas facilities. they seem to be settling. that s right. the first thing they did saturday night, they seized a gas facility in southern ukraine. there were riots in the street which i believe were agitated by russian thugs who came in there so then putin could move troops

siege of the gas facility in southern algeria. so he was prestaging something that then we all knew about several months later. and i ve interviewed many of the libyan officials, prime ministers that said the justice minister and they all agree on one point, and that is they do not have the security inside their country right now, that it is becoming a place where these foreign jihadists are gathering as they re being pushed out of other areas and this security vacuum and the political vacuum in libya is expanding. and libyan intelligence sources are saying they are quickly becoming the new base for al qaeda in the islamic magreb. so this is a very serious issue and a serious problem going forward. it certainly is. it s really, really critical right now what s happening in libya and throughout north africa and the middle east.
