JAMMU, Feb 17: The Congress Party today staged protest against the Centre’s decision to impose Property tax in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir and demanded its immediate roll back and dismantling of Toll Plazas to end “tax terrorism”.
The protest programme was organized by Corporators- Ritu Choudhary and Mohiudin of Wards 6 and 7, respectively. Former minister Raman Bhalla, Mula Ram and Yogesh Sawhney; PCC general secretary Manmohan Singh, DCC president Jammu-Rural Hari Singh Chib and Ex-minister Ch Garu Ram and many other senior Congress leaders also participated in the protest at Vivekananda Chowk here.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhalla asked the Government to ‘revisit’ its decision of imposing Property tax in Jammu and Kashmir since no major economic activity was witnessed in the newly carved-out Union Territory after August 05, 2019. He said imposing Property tax would be no less than a ‘shocker’ for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

AICC leader asks PCC chief to issue notices to leaders who didnât attend official meet

JAMMU, Jan 10: Taking serious notice of ‘factionalism’ in the Congress party and staying away from the official meeting by some senior Congress leaders at Jammu today, AICC leader and Incharge Jammu and Kashmir affairs of the party, Rajni Patil (ex-MP) today asked PCC president GA Mir to issue notice to such members.
Party sources said that the AICC leader, who arrived here today on the directions of the party high command to take review of the party affairs and existing political scenario in J&K besides conducting introspection with regard to the recently held DDC elections and poor performance of the party, took exception to the non-participation of some senior party leaders in the meeting.

Captain Bhoopinder Singh is currently in the custody of the Army, with informed sources saying he may face Court Martial proceedings.
The case relates to the July 18, 2020 encounter at Amshipura here in which three youths of Rajouri district Imtiyaz Ahmed, Abrar Ahmed and Mohammed Ibrar- were killed and branded as terrorists.
