A Hillsboro man is the latest Oregon’s Game Megabucks jackpot winner, taking home a $3.9 million jackpot.  Melvin Date matched all six numbers for the April 3 Megabucks drawing to win the $3.9 million jackpot. Date split his prize with his son, giving his son $1 million and Date getting $2.9 million. Both Date and his son chose the one-time lump sum amount, which is one-half of each man’s total prize. The $2.9 million portion, after taxes, is $986,000. While his son’s lump sum amount is $340,000, after taxes. Date bought his winning ticket at Beaverton Safeway on Tualatin Valley Highway. Melvin Date matched all six numbers for the April 3 drawing: 2-8-13-21-23-34. Date gave $1 million of the prize money to his son and kept the other $2.9 million. Both men chose to take the lump sum option, which for Date was $986,000 after taxes. His son took home $340,000 after taxes. Date bought his winning ticket at the Safeway store on Tualatin Valley Highway. The Oregon Lottery has temporarily closed the Salem and Wilsonville Lottery offices due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Players who have winning tickets of $50,000 or more need to make an appointment at the Oregon Lottery office in Salem.

Two men who have been friends for over 40 years win $7.4M Megabucks jackpot     HILLSBORO, Oregon (KPTV) Two men from Hillsboro who have been friends for more than 40 years will split $7.4 million after winning the Oregon’s Game Megabucks jackpot. The Oregon Lottery says Erik Maki and Brian Krahmer, who have been friends since middle school and have worked together for 25 years, have been taking turns buying Megabucks tickets over the past 28 weeks. “We always check our tickets on Monday,” said Maki. “The best we’d done had been winning a free ticket! Our offices are next door to each other and Brian brought the ticket and said we’d won $7,400. We were pretty excited about that. Then Brian decided to check what number we’d missed and he compared the ticket to the Lottery app. That’s when he saw that we’d matched all six numbers and we’d really won $7.4 million!”
