sputnik v covid-19 vaccine: Private hospitals to offer Sputnik V soon

Synopsis Private hospitals are likely to introduce the vaccine for those in the 18-44 age group by next week. However, state governments won’t have access until June end. Private hospitals including Max Healthcare are said to be in talks with Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, which is making the vaccine in India. It’s currently being imported from Russia. Reuters Sputnik will form a key part of that number, along with other vaccines, according to the government. Russia’s Sputnik V Covid-19 vaccine will be available in private hospitals this month but state governments will have to wait for another month to introduce the jab for the 18-44 age group. The first foreign-made Covid vaccine to be introduced in India was soft-launched in Hyderabad on Friday at a maximum retail price of Rs 995.40 per dose, inclusive of GST, on Friday.
