Fireworks applications
The city of Galt will be accepting applications for organizations that wish to sell fireworks on city property. Applications for fireworks permits are available in the City Clerk’s Office, 380 Civic Drive, city’s website, www.ca.galt.ca.us or email clerk@cityofgalt.org. All applications and required attachments must be completed and received by the City Clerk’s Office no later than 5:30 p.m., May 27.
Applicants must be a community-based, resident 501(c) (3), (4), (6), or (7) nonprofit organization promoting and providing services to residents and/or businesses.
The lottery will be held the first Monday of June in the City Clerkâs office and will determine the rank order for placement at the bottom of the master list for those eligible nonprofit organizations not already included in the master list.
Egg My House fundraiser
Boy Scout Troop, Crew and Ship 1119 will present its third annual Egg My House fundraising event Easter morning 2021. Choose 25, 50 or 100 filled eggs to be hidden in your front yard Easter morning, along with an Easter basket and note from the Easter Bunny. Packages are $25 for 25 eggs, $35 for 50 eggs and $50 for 100 eggs. In case of rain, eggs will be placed in a basket on your porch. Orders are due by April 2. âFree COVID testing on Thursdays
Free COVID-19 testing is available every Thursday from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Chabolla Community Center, 600 Chabolla Avenue in Galt. Testing is offered on a walk-in basis, no appointment needed. This is a self-administered test, which only requires swabbing of the end of the nose.
Sitting down, breaking bread with your friends and neighbors is usually the theme of the annual Galt Sunrise Rotary Community Dinner; however, faced with COVID-19 restrictions, members of the local Rotary shifted the focus from an in person hot meal, complete with a visit from St. Nick, to a drive-through boxed meal for the entire family event.
Held Saturday, Dec. 19 at Galt United Methodist Church, more than 175 food boxes were distributed, which serviced nearly 1,000 individuals, down more than 500 people usually served at the in-person hot meal event.
