Ryan Berger resigned from the position on April 22 according to Galesburg City Attorney Brad Nolden.
Berger started the week of Mar. 23, 2020.
Steve Gugliotta, who has long worked in the city’s planning department and is currently planning manager, will act as interim Community Development Director.
The position oversees planning, zoning, and housing programs, and things like inspections, and code enforcement.
The community development director, like most of the city’s department heads, is appointed by the city manager
Berger came into the job with 11 years of experience in community and economic development.
Before Galesburg, he worked as Land Development Manager for the City of Moline, the Planning and Redevelopment Administrator for the City of Rock Island, and the Community Development Director in Groveland, Florida.
