Reason behind sharing of decryption tool in HSE cyber attack still unclear

IT IS “STILL unclear” why a decryption key has been made available in the HSE cyber attack, a minister said today.
A decryption tool that might help the HSE to unlock its IT system following the widespread cyber attack last week is available online.

Describing the âquiet rageâ she and many women were feeling, she also criticised those questioning Sarah Everardâs decision to walk home from her friendâs house alone.
âThe narrative is still out there that this somehow was the womanâs fault, that, if we really looked at it, this is somehow Sarah Everardâs fault. I just want to say really clearly⦠because I know a lot of people will be feeling and remembering experiences theyâve had themselves, itâs not the womanâs fault. Itâs not our fault. Itâs not our fault that we have keys in our hands, ready to use. And itâs not our fault that we feel unsafe when weâre walking along and thereâs a man behind us, and we have to cross the road. And yet, as women, weâre told over and over and over, that itâs up to us to change our behaviour⦠and what does that do? Well, it shifts the responsibility, away from the choices and the actions of men.â
Dr Lambert said based on the experiences of those who worked during the Sars pandemic, many healthcare workers would go on to suffer âanxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorderâ once this crisis has passed.
Gabrielle Colleran, head of radiology at the National Maternity Hospital, underlined the additional challenges faced by healthcare workers who must homeschool children when they arrive home after a long work shift, saying lack of supports for parents in this situation has âreally damaged morale in the health service. We really feel quite abandoned by the State at exactly the time, until we were vaccinated, when we went to work every day knowing we were at risk of getting sick ourselves.â
