Management of the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LUTH, yesterday, raised the alarm over the upsurge of severe cases of Covid-19 new infections in the hospital, even as it expressed worry that most of the patients were on oxygen, while many others come in when they are in critical condition.

NO fewer than 731 participants in the Batch B of the National Youth Service Corps NYSC have tested positive for Covid-19, the Federal Government has announced.
This was as government disclosed that about 57 people who were being treated at various isolation and treatment centres passes away within a space of one week.
Meanwhile, Nigeria has opened discussions with the People’s Republic of China to have access to Covid-19 vaccines.

The simmering crisis between the Edo State branch of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) and the State government bordering on their welfare has taken a new twist as the leadership of the teacher’s union has directed its members to shun enrollment into the state government’s contributory pension scheme.
The directive is coming ahead of the scheduled January 18, 2021, resumption date by all public and private primary and post-primary institutions in the State for a second term for the 2021 Academic Session.

Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has said that the state government would mobilise resources to combat the coronavirus pandemic, assuring that the state would effectively manage the virus just as it did during the first wave.
The governor, who said this in a New Year broadcast yesterday in Benin, harped on the need for love and hope to surmount the challenges of the new year.He said that it was necessary to take the precautionary health and safety measures against the spread of COVID-19 seriously to halt the spread of the virus.
