Vaccination clinics to open this month for Fulton Schools

FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — Officials with Fulton County Schools are targeting mid-April to have all willing staff members vaccinated with both doses of the COVID-19 vaccination. The district is planning two six-day sessions, one for each round of doses, beginning in March for all full and part-time staff. Those groups includes teachers, substitutes, charter school staff and community coaches “Now that a timeline has been set by the governor, Fulton County Schools will work with the Fulton County Board of Health for district personnel to get vaccinated,” said Brian Noyes, chief communications officer for the school district. “We are prepared and resourced to meet the challenges of the effort.”

manich@leaderherald.com JOHNSTOWN The Fulton-Montgomery Community College Board of Trustees heard Thursday that the state and federal aid situations impacting the college’s budget may be better than originally thought. In a Finance Committee report, Trustee Roberta Winsman said the process to develop the proposed FMCC 2021-22 budget has begun. She said a draft document will be presented to the board by May. But Winsman said her committee is now “excited” about the college being notified that the state’s 20 percent “holdbacks” instituted during the COVID-19 pandemic may actually be coming back to FMCC. In his monthly report, FMCC Acting President Greg Truckenmiller said that he and Trustee Taiyebah Ghazi-Maghadam attended a virtual meeting Thursday about budget advocacy. He said they heard from SUNY officials on the latest financial situation impacting state institutions of higher learning.

Jan 14, 2021 JOHNSTOWN The Fulton County Public Health Department on Wednesday issued a news release regarding COVID-19 vaccinations available to the public. The department said it is experiencing a high volume of calls regarding COVID vaccine. “We understand that people want information on when they can receive the vaccine,” the release said. “Fulton County is part of the Mohawk Valley Regional network and is not scheduling public appointments for vaccine at this time.  The supply for vaccine is not as high as the demand is at this time. The process to vaccinate all individuals will take months. Patience is required.” County health officials said that If you are an eligible New Yorker based on 1a and 1b, you may schedule an appointment online or by calling New York state’s call center at 1-833-NYS-4-VAX (1-833-697-4829).

Dec 19, 2020 JOHNSTOWN The Fulton County Health Department is continuing to experience an increase in cases from COVID-19. While Fulton County Public Health staff are trying diligently to make contact with positive cases and the virtual contact tracers with the contacts of positives, it is highly possible the outreach may not happen, according to a news release. Anyone who has not been contacted is to follow the following guidelines. Those who have learned they are positive: ¯ Isolate yourselves from everyone for 10 days from the start of symptoms or if they do not have symptoms from their test date. ¯ Develop a list of their contacts starting with the two days prior to the day their symptoms started or if they never had symptoms starting with the two days prior to their test date.
