2020 was a year unlike any other. Between the pandemic, global lockdowns, and social and economic instability across the globe, the world didn’t lack things to get down about.
At the same, the chaos of 2020 was matched by a level of human reaction, cooperation, and ingenuity not seen in my lifetime. And in the country’s collective response, it’s no surprise that many of the most creative solutions to national problems came from Canada’s technology industry.

For so many Canadians, lockdowns caused by the COVID-19 pandemic has meant spending much more time at home.
For some, this has inspired new projects, hobbies and even businesses to fill the time. That need to fill time, along with a desire to do good, is what motivated one CFL player to take on a new endeavour during the cancelled 2020 football season.

When the coronavirus forced schools across New Brunswick to close earlier this year, Cassandra Blackmore and the dedicated staff and volunteers at the Fredericton Community Kitchens knew what they had to do to make sure their neighbours didn’t go hungry. Blackmore and her team quickly came up with The Pantry Delivery Program to bring nutritious meals to deserving kids and families.
