The owner of 10 Scooter's Coffee stores around the Midwest says he's ready to begin construction in Galesburg, but he's yet to receive permission to tear down two existing buildings on the site.
The Board of Trustees for Carl Sandburg College on Monday approved a three-year contract with Innkeeper's Fresh Roasted Coffee to provide food service at the community college's main campus. Innkeepers, who have a permanent location on Seminary Street in downtown Galesburg, will serve breakfast from 7:30 until 10 a.m. and lunch from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Cyber Café in Sandburg's Student Center. Known locally for its coffee and lunch selections, Innkeeper's replaces Lieber's Boxcar Express, which had been the College's food service provider since 2014. Dame Fine Coffee recently secured property at the corner of East Main Street and Illinois Avenue where it has broken ground and plans to open a double drive-thru building around Thanksgiving. The Monmouth-based company has operated from a temporary coffee trailer on North Henderson Street since March, and is seeking a permanent home on the north side of town. Dame Fine Coffee owner Dillion Vancil tells WGIL if they don't build a drive-thru on its temporary site at 1819 N. Seminary St., announced this week it is adding a wine bar to its assortment of offerings. A variety of wines will be available to consume on site from 11 a.m. until closing every day. And a weekend specialty drink menu will be offered during all hours on the weekends. Adding wine and specialty drinks has been on the minds of owners Jessica and Ben Ketchum since they purchased Innkeeper's in August of 2021. Jessica Ketchum tells WGIL, "We think adding wine is a perfect fit to what we are already doing. Besides, what goes better with wine than dessert? As well, we love to see people coming together in our space. We believe that adding wine is just adding to the experience that Innkeeper's has always offered, a place where people can come together to enjoy themselves." Innkeeper's will o
