EXCLUSIVE: 2nd Texas Child Migrant Shelter Under Scrutiny amid Sex Abuse, COVID Concerns
13 Apr 2021
Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R) sent a letter last week to Vice President Kamala Harris, demanding the Biden Administration close the Health and Human Services Emergency Intake Site (EIS) for unaccompanied migrant children located at the Freeman Expo Center in San Antonio. In new developments, law enforcement sources say authorities are now looking at conditions at another facility in the Rio Grande Valley.
A law enforcement source within CBP, speaking on a condition of anonymity, says Texas Rangers visited the Donna facility in recent days to investigate conditions. Rangers conduct major violent crime, public corruption, cold case, and officer-involved shooting investigations. They also oversee the Texas Department of Public Safety’s border security and crisis negotiation programs.
We just received a press release from the Administration for Children and Families (ACF). They are a division of the United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). They informed us of the following:
“the Starr Commonwealth Emergency Intake Site (EIS) in Albion, Michigan, received their first UC today, totaling approximately 100 children.”
They went on to explain that:
“The children will be welcomed by staff, receive a medical check, and be provided needed clothing, toiletries, food and snacks, as well as a safe place to rest.”
How many “unaccompanied minors” can Starr Commonwealth accommodate? Last week we reported that Starr Commonwealth in a press release stated that they could “shelter for up to 240 unaccompanied migrant children ages 12 and younger”.

Gov. Greg Abbott on Wednesday called for the federal government to close a San Antonio facility housing unaccompanied migrant children after he became aware of allegations of sexual assault.
“In short, this facility is a health and safety nightmare,” Abbott said at a press conference outside the Freeman Coliseum, which is reportedly housing more than 1,300 teens who recently crossed the U.S.-Mexico border without a parent or guardian.
