LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - As the sun sets on the lakefront, the Lake Charles Civic Center becomes an arena for what some witnesses call the âcar show.â
âRevving up engines, mufflers, screaming, hooting, and hollering, a lot of people obviously getting drunk.â Thatâs how Henry Gil, a witness to the âshowâ would describe it.
Gil says the reckless driving isnât the only problem.

LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - Officials with the Lake Charles Police Department have identified the victim and the suspect in a stabbing at a Valero gas station on Gerstner Memorial Boulevard late Tuesday.
Sgt. Brenda Desormeaux says a local hospital contacted authorities around 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2021, to report a stabbing victim who had been transported to their location.

LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) -It’s always fun to see someone get a surprise, like this week when two unsuspecting community leaders were bestowed the honors of Lord and Lady of Mardi Gras.
“By the authority vested in me, I have come to honor and name thee Lord Franklin Fondel of the 12th Night Royal Court,” announced the jester at the Mardi Gras Museum.
Lake Charles Deputy Police Chief Fondel was surprised to be named Lord.
