Rocky Mount considers co-working space as more people consider full time telework A recent campaign advertising the Roanoke Valley for teleworking drew more than 45,000 clicks Tags:  ROCKY MOUNT, Va. – Franklin County area leaders are looking to the future with a possible co-working space in Rocky Mount. More people are looking at work from home setups, and they would love them to leave the big city for our region. Danielle White lives in rural Franklin County and spends nearly all of her time in her humble home office. She loves the setup but said it’s not always perfect. “I’m an environmental consultant, I have worked from home for about six years now,” White said. “First and foremost the internet service and then when you have worked from home for an extended period of time sometimes it’s nice to get out of the house.”

Regional planners say that could have a devastating effect on the economy. If only someone could match entrepreneurs with these soon-to-be retirees to keep their businesses going satisfying customers, offering jobs and supporting communities.

A state grant is funding early child care in the Ottawa area

The Herald Staff The Ottawa area is set to benefit from a portion of more than $2.1 million in grant funding that has been awarded to fuel  All in for Kansas Kids, a program used by the Kansas Children’s Cabinet and Trust Fund for distributing money and resources for childcare and related services across the state.  Ottawa was among those that received a grant submitted by Child Care Aware of Eastern Kansas. Ottawa is working collaboratively with Child Care Aware of Eastern Kansas, Chanute and the Hi-Crest neighborhood of Topeka. Ottawa received over $22,000 to support existing providers to offer high-quality care for infants and toddlers and create 10 additional slots for children birth to age 3 during nontraditional hours.
