The CNMI administration, in coordination with CNMI Homeland Security Emergency Management is satisfied with it preparedness efforts in response to Super Typhoon Mawar and has begun planning recovery efforts post Mawar.
WITH Typhoon Mawar headed to the Marianas, Variety spoke with some of Saipan’s workers Tuesday morning to see how they had been preparing for the storm.
The most recent forecast of Typhoon Mawar, as brought to the CNMI by the National Weather Service based off Guam, has shown that the southern part of Rota and the northern part of Guam will be bearing the brunt of the storm. Due to this development, the CNMI and its federal partners will be focusing most of its emergency response efforts on Rota.
GOVERNOR Arnold I. Palacios on Monday said the administration is mobilizing local and federal assets to support Rota, which is expected to be severely affected by Typhoon Mawar.
CNMI Homeland Security and Emergency Management is requesting the presiding officers of the Legislature to set a meeting to discuss tsunami evacuation planning.
