UNCG administration faces opposition over proposed cuts as enrollment declines

Leadership at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro says financial headwinds are forcing changes, including program cuts. Chancellor Frank Gilliam Jr. is facing opposition from some faculty and students. UNCG enrollment has declined by more than 2,000 students in the last five years. Gilliam says that’s leading to budget challenges.  "We really need to take a focused look at what we're offering, where student demand is, where opportunity areas are for us, and then what things can we just not afford to do anymore,” he says.

Presented by Ørsted New Jersey FMBA President Ed Donnelly seems like a formidable potential candidate for state Senate in the 21st District. He’s a powerful guy as both head of one of the state’s big public workers unions and chair of the Police and Firemen’s Retirement System. And it’s another one of those once-safely Republican districts that got a lot friendlier-looking to Democrats in the Trump era.
