Subtext users give their versions of Cleveland Indians' lineup, rotation and bullpen for 2021

Subtext users give their versions of Cleveland Indians’ lineup, rotation and bullpen for 2021 Updated Feb 12, 2021; Facebook Share CLEVELAND, Ohio Manager Terry Francona can always use a little help from his friends. That’s why Indians beat writers Joe Noga and Paul Hoynes asked their subtext subscribers on Wednesday for their opinions on the Indians’ lineup, rotation and bullpen for the 2021 season. Spring training opens next week and the Indians first spring-training game is Feb. 28. So it’s that time of the year. We posted two lineups, one against righties and one against lefties, a starting rotation and bullpen on Wednesday. Then we invited subtexters to join the conversation while we discussed the topics on the Cleveland Baseball Talk podcasts Wednesday and Thursday.

Reds Have Considered Amed Rosario

MLB Trade Rumors The Reds have considered a run at Indians shortstop Amed Rosario as an alternative to spending on the free-agent market, reports Mike Puma of the New York Post (Twitter link). MLB Network’s Jon Heyman hears the same, tweeting that while Cincinnati has maintained interest in Didi Gregorius, he might prove too expensive an option. Cincinnati has rampantly slashed payroll this winter, non-tendering Curt Casali despite modest arbitration projections and dumping Raisel Iglesias’ $9.125MM salary in a deal with the Angels. General manager Nick Krall has spoken of reallocating those resources, but to this point the club has yet to put that money back into the roster. Acquiring Rosario, who is owed just $2.4MM after avoiding arbitration earlier in the winter, would represent the team’s only addition to the payroll this offseason.

Mets Trade: Payroll Increases By $30 Million With Francisco Lindor Deal

Mets Trade: Payroll Increases By $30 Million With Francisco Lindor Deal 01/07/21 AT 2:02 PM Steve Cohen’s purchase of the New York Mets is already starting to pay dividends with a blockbuster trade that will increase the team’s payroll significantly. New York has agreed to acquire infielder Francisco Lindor and starting pitcher Carlos Carrasco from the Cleveland Indians. The Mets will send Amed Rosario and Andres Gimenez to the Indians, along with prospects Josh Wolf and Isaiah Greene, according to MLB.com’s Anthony DiComo. Unwilling to match MLB’s biggest spenders under previous ownership, the move is further proof that Cohen is ready to open his wallet in pursuit of a championship.
