Indiana surpasses 600,000 total COVID-19 cases

INDIANAPOLIS (FOX19) - Indiana surpasses 600,000 total COVID-19 cases with Thursday’s update from the Indiana State Department of Health.
On Thursday, the ISDH reported 3,733 new cases, which brings the overall number to 601,937 COVID-19 cases.
Here is a breakdown of new and total cases for Indiana counties in the FOX19 NOW viewing area:
Dearborn County: 31 new cases (4,707 total)
Franklin County: 14 new cases (1,469 total)
Ohio County: Four new cases (478 total)
Ripley County: 16 new cases (2,965 total)
Switzerland County: 13 new cases (645 total)

INDIANAPOLIS (FOX19) - More than 9,000 Hoosiers have now died from COVID-19, according to the Indiana State Department of Health.
On Tuesday, Indiana reported 126 additional deaths from the virus. This brings the state’s overall death toll to 9,092.
Dearborn County and Union County each reported one new death on Tuesday.
The ISDH reported 2,756 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday. 595,436 total Hoosiers have been diagnosed with COVID-19 since March 6, the ISDH reports.

KENTON COUNTY, KY (FOX19) -After reopening at 50% capacity in Dec., the executive director for Kenton County Library states that the changes that were made at libraries in Kenton County due to the pandemic are still available to the public.
“How are people using the library? They’re using it differently, a lot more electronically with E-books and E-audio books. A lot more people are using drive-through windows. We’re very fortunate that when we built our buildings and remodeled buildings, we could install drive through windows. We provided access to those windows even during the shutdown,” Schroeder said.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (FOX19) -Protesters gathered outside of the Ohio Statehouse Sunday just days before the presidential inauguration.
Columbus is one of the many cities throughout the U.S. that have been preparing for armed protests following the deadly protest that occurred at the U.S. Capitol Jan. 6.
To prepare for the protest, Gov. Mike DeWine signed a proclamation Thursday giving the National Guard the ability to help law enforcement prior to the presidential inauguration.
