MONMOUTH Former Monmouth fire chief Jim Conard was appointed as Ward 3 alderman following the death of longtime council member Bob Wells.
Mayor Rod Davies said Conard’s service to the community in various forms made him the right candidate to fill Wells’ seat.
Wells, who served Ward 3 for 14 years prior to his death, died in early December.
Conard, a 28-year veteran of the Monmouth fire department, including eight as chief, also previously worked as a building inspector for the city’s zoning department.
