UNIFIL to Assist in Cleanup of Oil Spill From Israel

(Mahmoud Zayyat/AFP) Beirut- Asharq Al-Awsat UNIFIL is currently studying a request presented by the Lebanese authorities to help deal with an oil spill that may have originated from a ship passing near the Israeli coast and has now reached the southern shores of Lebanon. UNIFIL spokesperson, Andrea Tenenti, told the National News Agency that in relation to the oil spill and tar deposited in parts of the coastline in south Lebanon, UNIFIL has been contacted by local authorities to see what help can be provided within our available capabilities and equipment.

For Maral Najarian, moving to Armenia was supposed to be a dream come true. But on arrival to Yerevan, Armenian authorities encouraged her to sign up to a settlement programme in the disputed area of Nagorno-Karabakh, which soon after she set up home there became embroiled in a ferocious six-week conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Both sides agreed to a Russian-brokered ceasefire on 10 November - but that same day, Najarian and family friend Viken Euljekian went missing on their way out of Nagorno-Karabakh.

In his letter , Wehbe asked the embassies to seek assistance from Lebanese expats and civil and international bodies capable of providing much-needed assistance at the level of medical equipment, and all kinds of medicines, especially those related to confronting the coronavirus pandemic.
