TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida State track and field team will be returning to action at the Vanderbilt invitational this Friday and Saturday. Action will take place at the Commodores Indoor Facility with events starting at 3:30 p.m. on Friday and at 12:45 p.m. on Saturday. Ismael Kone now holds the school record for fastest 60m dash with a mark and personal best of 6.51. Honored as Men's Track ACC Performer of the Week, Kone will compete in the 200m dash this week. TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Florida State's Ismael Kone (track) and Jeremiah Davis (field) were each named ACC Men's Performers of the Week on Tuesday afternoon by the ACC. Both Seminoles put together phenomenal performances this past weekend at the Clemson Invite. Both athletes currently hold the world leads in their respective events. In his first race wearing the garnet and gold, Kone made his name known by breaking the school and tying the ACC record in the 60m dash with a sizzling time of 6.51. Kone also tied for the 13th-fastest performance in NCAA history. On the runway, Davis began right where he left off in 2022 as the NCAA outdoor runner-up flew for a season-opening mark of 8.17m. This mark was a personal best for Davis and put him No. 3 on FSU's all-time list. Davis also had a great start to his triple jump season with a mark of 16.04m which is No. 6 on FSU's all-time list. CLEMSON, S.C. - The Florida State track and field team had another solid day at the Clemson Invitational at the Rock Norman Indoor Track and Field Complex on Saturday afternoon. The Noles were led by the men's 4x400m relay (Butler, Collier, Willis, Watkins Jr.) who clocked the third-fastest indoor time in school history with a time of 3:05.82 to finish second in the event. Jeremiah Davis continued his phenomenal weekend in the triple jump recording an indoor personal best mark of 16.04m. That mark puts Davis at No. 6 on FSU's all-time list for the event. Kyvon Tatham also finished sixth in the event with a mark of 15.29m. In the men's 3000m run, Patrick Donnelly led the Noles with a time of 8:15.78 which was good enough for sixth place. On the women's side, Caitlin Wilkey (9:55.13) and Riley Bahr (9:55.36) led the way in the women's 3000m run to finish fifth and six. Kone broke the school record in the 60m dash with a time of 6.51. Kone's mark is tied for the 11th-fastest mark in NCAA history, and it broke Andre Ewers' and Dentarius Locke's school record. Davis's mark of 8.17m is good enough for third on FSU's all-time list.
AURORA, Colo. - Trey Cunningham had already solidified himself as one of the top hurdlers in collegiate history, but his name will forever be sketched into collegiate track and field history as he was named The Bowerman winner Thursday night. Cunningham is the second Seminole to win The Bowerman joining Ngoni Makusha who won the award in 2011. Florida State is now one of three schools to have multiple male Bowerman winners.
