children at public expense in u.s. hospitals, it s a big problem. why is it that defunded? we re looking at reconciliation issues. tucker: you can t defund under reconciliation? we got an issue with thatn were working on that with the senate spirit we ve got these goofy senate rules we got to work with. we can to every single thing wen want to. we would do all of these things if we could without getting a filibuster. we don t want to jeopardize this bill and to make it subject to a filibuster which means we can t do anything. that s why were trying to do this so we can form a two senate rules. here s one more point i would say. because we re delegates and come over giving medicaid back to the states. massive amount of federalism. the border state governors can do that. the border state governors decide what happens with their medicaid populations. we cap it, we stop the expansion, we grow it as a slow the rate over time with saves trillions which is a massive amount of debt reduc
foreseeable future. how do you think this is playing with allies, overseas partners? i think there s a great deal of nervousness about this. first of all, it is typical in a transition for there to be discussion between embassies and incoming members of the new government, but from what we can tell, from what is pretty clear now, mr. flynn s contacts went well beyond that norm and i think will be a fit subject of a lot of investigation. as allies abroad look at this, they kind of wonder, you know, who s in charge? is this thing organized? you know, it s one thing to kind of shake things up as was often said in the campaign but not usually in your national security council staff. that s really what is going on right now. so as ambassador negroponte just said, it s important to get on to a new person who can run that and kind of get it into shipshape and prevent these kinds of things from happening
the national security of the united states, he can t tolerate a situation where for the next months this case is in limbo and it s not being enforced. by doing that, isn t he acknowledging then that they rushed into this, it wasn t well thought out? he could decide to do that, you re absolutely right. but i guess the question is, is that probably? there s another way he can do it too. he can leave this order in effect, leave it subject to a stay. and then issue a new order that supplements the order. i m now going to issue a new order and that order applies only to a, b, c. the reason i think that jeffrey is correct on this is if you look at donald trump s history, the president the last big piece of litigation he was involved with was his trump
patrick is right. international trade is both the most complex subject that government deals with and fwretse yet the most important t subject for voters. in arizona there was paid sick leave and higher minimum wage on the ballot. and that won 58% of the vote. and clinton won 45% of the vote. so there were a lot of voters who said i want minimum wage raises but didn t translate that to the democratic party. and i was looking at these ads in nevada about expanding the minimum wage and working families. i think you naeeed to see more this and more mobilization. first thing he said was minimum wage. and the same voters voted for minimum wage and the republican candidate. we have to leave it there.
other hand we had a prescription against certain high-powered and raply fired weapons which was quite effective in our country and were not a curse upon our country but we allowed certain laws to expire. now we have those guns and many of them in our country. let s stop trading them over the internet. let s stop selling them without background checks over the internet or at gun sales. when these laws were drafted, there were no sales over the internet and so i think the president s taking a common sense step of saying, listen. if it wasn t envisioned then we can extend the obligation to have a license to sell that weapon. and if you have to have a license to sell that weapon, then you have to sell it subject to a background check. it s a common sense and appropriate step the president s taking and i think upheld in any court of law. governor malloy, thank you for your time. we appreciate it.
