Southbury Police Warn Public After Running Vehicles Stolen The Southbury Police Department sent out a warning to local residents to remind them to never let your vehicle idle unattended, among other tips, after a couple of vehicles were stolen in a series of events that unfolded around town. According to the post on the Official Southbury Police Department Facebook page, Officers were called to the Southbury Post Office at 710 Main Street South, on a report of a stolen vehicle on Wednesday January 6, 2021. The owner of the vehicle called police after it had been stolen, the vehicle was stolen after the owner had left the vehicle running, with the doors unlocked, while they went inside the post office.

Two cars left running stolen from separate locations in Southbury

565 SOUTHBURY Local police are investigating the theft of two cars, including a pricey SUV, from separate locations Wednesday. The first car was stolen from the Southbury post office at 710 Main St. South at about 5 p.m. after police said the owner left the vehicle running and the doors unlocked while she ran inside. When she returned, the vehicle was missing, she told police. Police said that vehicle was driven by the car thieves to First Steps Daycare, 1480 Southford Road, where a second vehicle was stolen after it also was left running and unlocked in the parking lot. Police said the original stolen vehicle, the make and model of which was not provided by police, was abandoned a short time later in an undisclosed location.
