Philip beck graduated having theed as editorinchief of Boston University law review. After clerking for one year with the u. S. Court of appeals for the district of columbia, he joined kirkland and ellis where he spent the next 17 years establishing his reputation as one of the countrys leading courtroom lawyers. In 1993, mr. Beck and his colleague founded one of the most highly respected firms of trial attorneys in the nation. Mr. Beck has litigated hundreds of cases over the course of his career, but he is perhaps most wellknown for his work as the lead attorney representing the george w. I stand here today joining the chair of representatives, making him one of the longest serving house members in history, and the first africanamerican to hold the title of dean. Congressman conyers was born in detroit on may 16, 1929. He was the eldest of four sons of john and lucille. He attended Public School and graduated from Northwestern High school. After graduating, he served in the National Guard and joined the u. S. Army. He was inspired by his friend dr.
