More than a year ago, when the weight of the COVID-19 pandemic began to be felt, the Palm Beach Civic Association acted swiftly to keep our members, directors and employees safe.
Events were canceled or postponed. A remote work policy was enacted for our staff. From March 13, 2020, through our annual meeting on April 30, an entire year passed without any in-person gatherings. All internal meetings were conducted electronically.
Yet we managed to make it through a global pandemic, never once hitting the pause button, to serve our community in ways like we had never done before.

A year after the town held a Public Safety Committee meeting to focus on the imminent COVID-19 pandemic, officials and health experts will gather to reflect on the past 12 months and the challenges still ahead, including how to convince people to continue wearing masks after they have been vaccinated.
The COVID-19 Community Update, which is scheduled for 1 p.m. today on Zoom, will look at the actions the town took in the wake of the pandemic. Officials also will discuss vaccines and protocols for treating the disease, Council President Maggie Zeidman told the Daily News.
Mayor Gail Coniglio will give a retrospective of the past year and Fire-Rescue Chief Darrel Donatto will review statistics and talk about the town s vaccination program, which inoculated some 1,200 residents and is awaiting more vaccines.
