around the world, and when the crisis in ukraine happened, brent was on the plane the next day. and he was covering a story about refugees coming out of kyiv into poland and that s what we know. i remember you worked with him i remember one that occupied wall street about a decade ago. he was working on advice for others. what stood out to you most about his style of filmmaking? what made him so special? as i said, we went to dupont together about ten years ago doing a story about guns being smuggled in the u.s. across the border. what i said when we accepted our reward was, the only thing bigger than brent s balls are his heart. and i stand by that. that s what kind of journalist he was. he could get into any location.

kyiv. benjamin: it is a tragic day because russian forces continue their march across this country because they continue besieging towns and cities leaving hundreds of thousands without water, food, electricity and medicine. and because the indiscriminate bombing of civilians continues. also a tragic day, because as you said, brent renaud, an american journalist, 50 years old, died today not far from where we are. brent was 50 years old, he was an experienced journalist. he he won a pea body award, and he was here to tell the story of the civilians who are caught up in this battle. what we know so far is that he was in the town of irpin, as i said, about 15 miles from here. he had passed through a ukrainian checkpoint. the lines are quite fluid. he approached a russian checkpoint at which point they opened fire on him. as the car turned to turn around, brent was hit in the neck. he died on the scene.
