FEMA: Beware of rental scams offering too-good-to-be-true prices : Maui Now

The Federal Emergency Management Agency warns the public of online classified advertisements that are luring Maui wildfire survivors with false offers of available rental units. “People are learning too late that the cash they paid for a security deposit went to a scammer instead,” according to a FEMA news release.

Hawaiʻi to receive nearly $4M in additional federal disaster aid for Maui fire recovery : Maui Now

US Senator Brian Schatz (D-Hawai‘i) announced that Hawai‘i will receive $3.9 million in new federal funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency to support the ongoing recovery effort on Maui following the fires in August. To date, Hawai‘i has received more than $412 million in federal funding for the response to the fires.

FEMA hosts second Industry Day for owners of short-term rental properties, Dec. 21 : Maui Now

The session, planned for 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 21, will be held at The Westin Maui Resort and Spa, Kāʻanapali Honokahua and Honokeana Room, 2365 Kāʻanapali Parkway on Maui. Registration for the event, which will also be broadcast via Zoom, must be completed by Dec. 20.
