The debate is over, if not moot.
With goaltender Frederik Andersen missing in action due to a lower-body injury and no clear timetable to return, Jack Campbell has stepped in and continued to help the Toronto Maple Leafs pile up victories.
On Friday, Campbell made 31 saves as his team defeated the Winnipeg Jets 2-1 in a shootout and improved to 8-0-0 this season with a .951 save percentage.
With the game tied 1-1 in the third period, Campbell made several game-saving stops as the Jets pressured for the go-ahead goal.
The first difficult save came on a 3-on-2 after Mitch Marner turned the puck over in his own zone. The Jets collapsed toward the net before getting the puck to Pierre-Luc Dubois on the right side. But Campbell slid across to make a pad save.

Frederik Andersen won’t be a long-term injury issue for the Maple Leafs, but neither is he rejoining them for the final three games on their western road trip.
And with Jack Campbell able to practise on Thursday afternoon in Winnipeg, right after his seventh consecutive win there on Wednesday night, there’s no rush.

Jesse Schwarz is laughing before the question is finished.
“I got a couple of messages like, ‘Have you lost your mind?’” he says from Los Angeles. “Someone tweeted at me, ‘You could have a small family home, but cool.’ But I love it…. It’s like day-trading-meets-sports-meets-fantasy.”
Last week, Schwarz created big-time buzz when he purchased a LeBron James “moment” on NBA Top Shot for $208,000. The tournament
The event featured a number of future Hall of Fame-caliber players. Doug Weight led the tournament in scoring, with Canada s Eric Lindros and the Soviet Union s Pavel Bure trailing the American.
Canada took care of Switzerland in the tourney s first game, winning 6-0. Things started to look bleak for their gold medal hopes when they tied the U.S. 4-4 in their second matchup, putting them a point behind the Soviets.
Canada continued on, beating Norway, Sweden, and Finland before dropping their first contest against Czechoslovakia. With a 4-1-1 record and just one game left to play against the then-undefeated Soviets, Canada needed a miracle to secure gold.
