Story City Municipal Electric Utility sees retirement of three longtime employees
Ames Tribune
Three longtime employees have worked a combined 86 years for the Story City Municipal Electric Utility, and they are retiring this winter and spring. Accounting clerk, Doretta Hoffman, has worked 35 years for the utility; line foreman, Tim Casperson, has worked there 30 years; and utility clerk, Kathy Casperson, 21 years.
Story City is one of just a few Iowa towns its size that has its own municipal electric utility.
“I think the people of Story City realize how lucky we are,” Kathy Casperson said. “Our linemen all live here in town. There’s no wait on travel time for a crew to get to you. All of our staff lives within a 10-mile radius of town.”
