The Christmas Blessing is a new program offered to the Yankton community this Christmas season. Every child should have a safe place to sleep, and the Missouri Valley Pregnancy Resource Center (MVP) is working to make that a reality. Families can receive a free Graco Pack n Play when they attend a consultation at MVP. During the consultation, families will learn more about the services provided at the pregnancy center, as well as other services around the Yankton community.Â
âMVP works to be a âhubâ where a woman in need can come and get connected to the other agencies in the community that can help her. We often help our clients receive food boxes from Feeding Yankton, make them appointments with The Clothing Closet, or give them information about signing up for WIC,â said Rachel Jones, MVP executive director
At first, Tina and Theresa Barnes collected their loose change to help someone pay for dental expenses.
Now, the Yankton mother and daughter have taken on more needs, encouraging others to provide whatever they can â even the loose change in their pockets â to help others in need.
âOur daughter, Theresa, is at home, taking additional graduate courses before going to medical school,â Tina said. âOne day, she said, âMom, letâs do something during the time Iâm home that will help others.ââ
In the process, they found a little money and a great deal of compassion can make a major difference in daily lives.
