Public Health Director Andrea Carlstrom told commissioners Monday, during the Chaffee County work session, that she has been asked to be on the state board of health.
Carlstrom said she had a meeting with the state this week to find out more of what that would entail, and said it was quite an honor.
She delivered a report to the commissioners, meeting as the county board of health, detailing the most recent COVID-19 vaccination rates. Chaffee County was recently fifth in the state for total doses of COVID-19 administered to county residents per 100,000 people.
The board also heard a Department of Human Services report from Dave Henson of Child Protective services.

Local officials will likely need to pony up more money if they want to connect pathways near Jackson Hole Golf and Tennis to the pathway system in Grand Teton National Park.
Specifically, Teton County, Grand Teton National Park and Friends of Pathways are trying to decide how to fund building a pathway stub dubbed the âSagebrush Pathway.â If completed, it would connect the northernmost section of county trails along Spring Gulch Road to the parkâs pathways near the roundabout at Gros Ventre Junction.
Teton County Pathways and Trails Coordinator Brian Schilling told the News&Guide the new pathway is important because it connects two existing segments.

The Federal Lands Access Program (FLAP) provides funding for projects that provide or improve access to Federal properties such as the 22 islands that make up Ohio River Islands National Wildlife Refuge (NWR). The intent is to encourage citizens to discover the natural treasures that can be discovered on their lands, and to engage in healthy physical exercise.
Ohio River Islands NWR management in cooperation with West Virginia Division of Highways, the City of Williamstown and the City of Vienna submitted proposals for funding of three projects in September 2020 and all three were selected for funding:
Project 1: Development of a road, parking and kayak launch at Spencers Landing in Vienna. $350,000 total project cost.
