Workshop on non-communicable diseases held in Kohima

Dimapur, Nov. 10 (EMN): A state-level workshop on non-communicable diseases-nutrition, lifestyle, and management, which was co-led by secretary of Health and Family Welfare, Asangla Imti, was held on November 9 at the Secretariat conference hall, Kohima. In her address, Asangla stated that the workshop was organised to discuss on prevention and control measures based on the hazard risk factors, multi-sectoral approach, priority areas that are lacking and focusing on potential areas, stated a DIPR report. The principal secretary and development commissioner, Amardeep S Bhatia, in his virtual speech, asked the officers to look into the challenges being faced in their respective areas. He asked them to draft the non-communicable diseases prevalent in Nagaland and see what the potential solutions to the problems are. Dimapur police arrest man for abuse of 3 children; main accused absconding

Our Reporter Dimapur, Nov. 4 (EMN): In a shocking incident, three minors including a 9-year-old girl from Longwa village of Mon district were reportedly abused physically and mentally by a woman named Ronika Miachieo, who resides in Burma Camp, Dimapur, and claimed to be an environmentalist. The main accused, Miachieo, is absconding while the co-accused named Amos Ezung was arrested by the police on November 3 in connection with the case, Deputy Commissioner of Police (crime) and PRO Dimapur, Bharat Laxman Markad, informed Eastern Mirror on Friday. Eastern Mirror DeskDimapur, Oct. 9 (EMN): Dr. Temsula Ao, renowned poet, scholar, novelist and ethnographer from Nagaland, passed away on Sunday at Eden Hospital in Dimapur. She was 80. A Padma Shri Awardee(2007), she was widely respected as one of the major literary voices in English to emerge from Northeast India. She was the recipient of the Governor’s Gold Medal 2009 from the government of Meghalaya, and the Nagaland Governor’s Award for Distinction in Literature in 2009. In 2013, she was the recipient of the Sahitya Akademi Award. She was also the recipient of the Kusumagraj National Literature Award(for poetry) in 2015.
