Adieu Hadj par Fouad Hakiki
Hadj Miliani
vient de nous quitter. Comme tant d autres frères, amis et proches, ces deux

actif sur les territoires des cultures populaires, depuis les années 60 et 70
où il militait pour le théâtre populaire notamment au Petit-Théâtre (au Plateau

Algerian journalist and whistle-blower Noureddine Tounsi was sentenced Wednesday to a year in prison, one of his lawyers told AFP.
Detained since September, Tounsi had reported on social media on alleged wrongdoings at the port of Oran, in the country’s northwest.
Tounsi “was sentenced to a year behind bars by the court” in Oran, his lawyer Farid Khemisti wrote on Facebook.
Charges against him included “insulting the president of the republic” and “invasion of privacy,” local media reported.
However, he was acquitted of the charge of “communicating with foreign entities,” which would have led to his referral to a criminal court, the media added.

An Algerian court has upheld the five-year prison sentence of a Christian who three years ago reposted a cartoon of Islam s prophet Muhammad on his Facebook page.
According to attorney Farid Khemisti, his client – Hamid, a 43-year-old father of four young children – received such a stiff sentence because of his Christian faith. I really hoped for a reduction in the sentence – I expected at the worst … six months in prison, Khemisti told Morning Star News (MSN). That is the maximum that a fair judgment would have given, but I don t think my client s being a Christian made it any easier.
