Lous Pearlman already has provided his owners with great memories this season, and the colt will look to add one more to the list Wednesday when he competes in the $310,000 Progress Pace for three-year-old male pacers at Dover Downs.
Fred And Ginger, a world record-setting pacer who earned $1.05 million in his career, passed Monday (May 31) at Farriers Acres Farm in Illinois, where he was standing as a stallion, the horse’s former owner Howard Taylor said. Fred And Ginger was 14.
A son of Real Artist out of Graceful Motion, Fred And Ginger was the younger full brother of millionaire mare Ginger And Fred. He won 26 of 89 lifetime starts, with his most lucrative victory coming in 2010 at age three in the $300,000 Max C. Hempt Memorial at The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono.
Another memorable triumph came in a preliminary round of the 2013 TVG Series at The Meadowlands, where Fred And Ginger defeated future Hall of Famer Sweet Lou by a head in a world record 1:47.3. The field also included Modern Legend, Pet Rock, Dancin Yankee, Golden Receiver, Warrawee Needy and Bettors Edge.
