Romans is a very practical theological book, so its a deep theology on the one hand of the appositiving paul apostle paul, but he also writes to a church about correction and what not in some places. I think the thing thats most relevant to me in in thats really enlightened by this commentary in addition to the book romans itself is how, is this juxtaposition of grace and faith and works and salvation and while paul is the solid teacher on salvation by grace through faith alone, hes also quite instructive on what would be expected of people of faith who have received this free gift of grace. And thats a, i think its a great theme, trying to find that balance of grace and works. How do we find that balance today, congressman . Its you know how you find it, in my view . Go back to the book of romans and keep reading it over and over
Here in washington, d. C. , is teaching us on romans. And he gave us this wonderful commentary. Now, ive read biblical commentaries before, and they can be kind of they can give you, like, a headache, you know . This ones kind of what i would consider certainly intellectually solid but also fairly pastoral, so its relevant. Its part of whats known as the bible speaks today series. So it tries to make it relevant to today as well as theologically and historically sound. But just so you know, what i have to do when i read something this wordy is i use my yellow highlighter to make sure that i keep, it keeps my attention. It really helps. It helps me go back and reference it as well. So thats what im reading this summer, and like i say, it could probably take me all summer, because its fairly dense.
