Its maybe 500 or 600 people, but not a lot bigger. Not as much as previous protests. The issue, theyve moved into the streets. This is lexington avenue headed north toward harlem. The problem that they have right now is that police are trying to keep them on the streets or the sidewalks all night. Protesters now taken to the streets. Thats the issue. It has caused a lot more tension between protesters and police. If you turn around here, you can see its not very big. The police are right behind them and they have tried to protect the protesters as they have taunted them through much of the evening. Mayor bill de blasio is reje rejecting the claims of he is antipolice as he is calling for hearing and unity. The mayor urged activists to hold off on protests in the name of eric garner and Michael Brown until the two Police Officers are buried. De blasio says he met with the families of rafael ramos and wenjian liu and he tried to console them. They are in tremendous pain. They are worried deeply. The ramos family, two children. Good young men, who no longer have a father. De blasio urging new yorkers and media focusing on supporting the officers families.
