CHEROKEE COUNTY, GA The Cherokee School Board approved school calendars, an employee bonus, and appointed several new leaders for the next school year.
1. Calendars
The Cherokee County School Board approved on Thursday school calendars for three more years and appointed several new leaders for the next school year.

The approved calendars for the 2022-23, 2023-24 and 2024-25 school year now are posted online. They were developed by a committee of Cherokee Schools employees and parents and use the same balanced calendar model as currently in place.

CHEROKEE COUNTY, GA Cherokee County School District students are advancing to the state level of the Young Georgia Authors Writing Competition.
The annual writing contest is open to students in grades kindergarten through 12 and provides an opportunity for schools to encourage writing in a variety of genres. Each Cherokee County school submits a top entry for each grade level to compete at the district level. The district winners then advance to regional competition for the opportunity to compete statewide.

Here are five things to know about tight ends coach Freddie Kitchens, who will be calling the plays on offense for the Giants this Sunday after offensive coordinator Jason Garrett tested positive for COVID-19.
1. Kitchens spent the previous two seasons with the Cleveland Browns, who he initially joined as running backs coach/associate head coach on Jan. 24, 2018. He was promoted to offensive coordinator for the final eight games of the 2018 season and was the team s head coach in 2019. Under Kitchens, the Browns beat all three of their AFC North rivals (Baltimore, Cincinnati and Pittsburgh) in the same season for the first time since the division came into existence in 2002.
