Yesterday at 13:15, the EThekwini District Trio Task Team, Umlazi, and Metro police were busy conducting operations in the EThekwini District.
While they were traveling on Mayibuye Drive in Q Section, they spotted a vehicle traveling at a high speed and they became suspicious. The said vehicle was chased and it was intercepted near a service station. Upon searching the vehicle, the police found a goat in the boot of the vehicle.
The investigation conducted by police revealed that the goat was stolen at Lotus Park. Three suspects aged between 23 and 31 were placed under arrest for stock theft. They are appearing in the Umlazi Magistrates’ Court today.
Sboniso Msomi was a part of a gang of six wanted for a spate of robberies in the Durban west area. In 2018, he and his accomplices were involved in a shoot-out with police. The other gang members were killed.

KwaZulu-Natal police have arrested an alleged hijacker who is accused of opening fire on officers last month.
In January, officers were tracking a hijacked vehicle when the suspect allegedly opened fire. A case of attempted murder case was opened at the Cato Manor police station.
The 33-year-old man was arrested late on Monday night, after a hijacking in the Nsimbini area. [On Monday] at 11:45, police officers from the eThekwini District Trio Task Team received information that the suspect was seen around the Nsimbini area. While proceeding to where the suspect was seen, the police officers received a report of a hijacked vehicle in the Nsimbini area.
