Racing in the distance medley relay for the first time this season, the Razorbacks smashed the school record with a time of 9 minutes, 24.56 seconds in the Arkansas Qualifier and moved to No. 8 on the all-time collegiate list.
Competing in his first heptathlon as a Razorback, Ayden Owens broke the Arkansas school record with a career best and world-leading score of 6,272 points that ranks him No. 2 on the all-time collegiate list.
Impressive performances were the norm during the first day of the Razorback Invitational at the Randal Tyson Track Center with more anticipated during Saturday’s action. Ayden Owens is currently second in the heptathlon as he battles Georgia’s Kyle Garland with the Arkansas school record of 6,175 set by Kevin Lazas in 2013 within his sights.
