Eligible MU Students To Receive Another Round Of Emergency COVID-19 Financial Aid

The Mizzou Financial Aid Department notified eligible students that they would be receiving another round of COVID-19 emergency financial aid. The aid was automatically applied to the accounts of students with an Estimated Family Contribution under $20,000. Students who have been struggling financially, such as Luci Conkling, see the aid as much-needed relief in the midst of the pandemic. “I wasn t really expecting it,” Conkling said. “Money has been really tight for me recently, especially this last couple of months. With the weather being so cold, my utilities are higher, I m not able to work as much because I m back at school full time. So I felt this relief, like a weight off my shoulders.”

Marshall to distribute emergency relief money to students

Students were notified of the grants Monday in an email. Marshall officials say the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSAA) guidelines direct how the money will be distributed, which will be based on the student’s Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA.) As such, students will be automatically awarded the grant, if eligible. Beverly Boggs, director of Marshall’s Office of Student Financial Assistance, said the university is happy to have the opportunity to assist students. “The award amounts will vary based on the Estimated Family Contribution, with the highest amount of $1,000 being given to students with the greatest need per their FAFSA on file,” she said.
