California State Parks announced Thursday that approximately 126 acres in Estero Bluffs State Park will be burned Friday.
Barring unfavorable conditions, the burn will start at 7 a.m. and go until 5 p.m. Trails in the park will be closed during the prescribed burn.
The prescribed burn aims to reduce the biomass of introduced weeds, reduce fuel loads, and encourage native grassland species.
CAL FIRE and the Air Pollution Control District will work with California State Parks in the burn.
If conditions prevent the prescribed burn from happening Friday, the burn may happen Saturday or Sunday instead.
