The junior coalition partner Center Party and its seven ministers were dismissed from the government by Prime Minister Kaja Kallas (Reform) on Friday after weeks of political deadlock. Reform will now start negotiations with Isamaa and SDE.
Martin Helme, chairman of the opposition Conservative People's Party (EKRE), said that he has spoken over the phone to Center leader Jüri Ratas to discuss recreating the three-way coalition of EKRE, Center and Isamaa.
A state decision to reduce the area of regeneration felling by four percent in a year instead of the 13 percent initially planned goes against what was agreed between the Reform Party and the Center Party when they signed a coalition deal, and will not solve the issues intended – while at the same time harming Estonia's environment unnecessarily, a wildlife protection lobbyist says.
Minister of the Environment Erki Savisaar (Center) confirmed the areas of state forests designated for regeneration felling, which will decrease by 4 percent this year instead of the 13 percent originally planned.
