The TinCaps saw a trio of roster changes late Wednesday, getting sent one bullpen arm to replace another going on the IL and receiving an infielder from Triple-A. Here s a breakdown of the three moves.
Jose Geraldo on the IL: Geraldo has been the TinCaps closer since arriving in Fort Wayne in mid-June following a solid stint at Low-A Lake Elsinore. The 22-year-old right-hander has been every bit as good with the TinCaps, giving up zero earned runs in seven of his nine appearances with the High-A club and saving four games. In his most recent outing, however, he gave up a home run, his first since joining the team, raising his ERA with the TinCaps to 2.79. He has been a reliable arm out of the bullpen, a place Fort Wayne has struggled to find reliability, but he ll be out of commission for a while. TinCaps lose to Lake County, 7-6, despite comeback

The TinCaps dropped their seventh straight game despite a furious comeback in the late innings, falling 7-6 to the Lake County Captains at Parkview Field tonight and dropping a season-high nine games below .500.
How it Happened
The TinCaps trailed by as many as seven in the early innings, but rallied late and sent the tying run to the plate with one out after back-to-back walks in the eighth inning. Unfortunately for Fort Wayne, Kelvin Alarcon and Jawuan Harris struck out to end the threat.
Fort Wayne got it going again in the ninth, however. Jonny Homza got the uprising going with an eight-pitch at bat that ended in a slow bouncer to third that Victor Nova couldn t handle, giving Homza a chance to reach. Chris Givin followed with a bloop single off the very end of his bat that barely reached the outfield grass, putting two on. That brought the tying run to the plate in the form of Agustin Ruiz

TinCaps Roster Adjustments: Melean promoted, Givin arrives, Sabrowski starting

The TinCaps lost one of their hottest hitters this afternoon. Fort Wayne announced prior to tonight s game against Lake County that infielder Kelvin Melean had been promoted to Double-A San Antonio.
Melean was among the best hitters in High-A Central over the last two weeks, getting on base in 14 consecutive games before an 0-for-5 performance Sunday and hitting .412 over the final 13 games of that stretch. He had been a pretty average hitter before that stretch and his breakout came without a whole lot of warning, but he was an invaluable piece of the Fort Wayne lineup during series against South Bend and Lake County, when the TinCaps scored 5.5 runs per game. Melean, 22, will now move up to Double-A for the first time in his career (he also played one game at Triple-A earlier this season).
