Arkansas alum Laquan Nairn, representing the Bahamas in the USATF Golden Games as part of the Mt. SAC Relays on Saturday, claimed the long jump title with a last round leap of 26 feet, 11.75 inches (8.22) with a legal wind reading of 2.0 mps.
University of Arkansas freshman Ben Ryer took seventh in the men's hammer throw Thursday at the John McDonnell Invitational and fifth among collegiate athletes with a throw of 199 feet, 1 inch that ranks third on the Razorbacks' all-time list behind Erich Sullins (222-7) and sophomore Ruben Banks (219-4).
Arkansas hosts the John McDonnell Invitational this Thursday and Friday, April 7-8, with a total of 18 schools scheduled to compete. This will be the first of four outdoor meets the Razorbacks host at John McDonnell Field this season.
The men’s hammer was the featured event on the opening day of the John McDonnell Invitational. Arkansas alum Erich Sullins placed second while Razorback Ben Ryer established a pair of career-best throws in moving to No. 3 on the UA all-time list.
