A freshly-imposed dress code at Houston s popular Turkey Leg Hut restaurant has prompted both praise and angry backlash.
The restaurant announced the policy on Friday, explaining that the eatery was not a club. Turkey Leg Hut said that the attire of some guests had forced the family friendly restaurant to put the restrictions in place. Under the new rules, patrons are not allowed to wear excessively revealing clothing, including swimwear or any clothes that reveal undergarments.

Civil rights lawyer Benjamin Crump joined the family of Pamela Turner, a Black woman killed by a Texas police officer in 2019 at a rally on Thursday, calling for justice in her killing on the second anniversary of her death.
Turner, 44, was killed in May 2019 in the parking lot of her apartment complex after a confrontation with Baytown police officer Juan Delacruz, who also lived at the complex. Delacruz shot Turner after the two struggled over his stun gun.
Turner’s family has said she was suffering a mental health crisis at the time of the shooting. Turner was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia in 2005. A bystander captured the confrontation on video.

Moment of Silence bill moves through Florida Legislature

Florida’s Legislature is on the verge of requiring public schools across the state to set aside one to two minutes of silence every morning, adding to the mix of school announcements, the Pledge of Allegiance and roll calls.
The House passed HB 529 last month on a 94-24 vote, and a similar bill is making its way through the Senate. In the House, the 24 opponents included 23 Democrats plus Republican Rep. Linda Chaney of St. Petersburg.
Under the proposal, which would cover all K-12 public school classrooms, teachers can not recommend what students do with that time but should encourage parents to have that conversation with their children.
